“So You Want To Sing Cabaret!”, by David Sabella, soon to be published by Rowman & Littlefield, as part of their So You Want To Sing series, will be the first book of it’s kind, a comprehensive “how to” and entry-point for both students and teachers, into the world of Cabaret performance.
With a forward by Lorna Luft, the book will also include personal interviews with some of Cabaret’s most notable performers, teachers, industry leaders, booking managers & club owners, sharing their insight and wisdom, as well as chapters on: The History of Cabaret, Vocal/Non-Vocal Requirements, Cabaret vs. Musical Theater, The Art and Commerce of Cabaret – Crafting Your Show / Self Production, The Open Mic, The MAC Awards, The Bistro Awards, The Mabel Mercer Foundation, A comprehensive national list of cabaret rooms, The Art of Re-invention – surviving changing times in Cabaret, Insights from Cabaret’s oldest and youngest award winning singers, and The Future Of Cabaret.
