Celia Berk On My Way To You:
Improbable Stories That Inspired An Unlikely Path

Two More Performances @The Laurie Beechman Theatre April 21st 7pm, & 27th 7pm

Simply put, this performance is everything a cabaret show should be.  A master class in how to incorporate story telling and song, it does not possess a single predictable moment.  Although, to be sure, tribute is paid to perfomers that impacted her as an actress and a singer, the content greatly surpasses the “tribute show” label.  The range of perfomers that includes Al Jolson, Barbara Cook, Maria Callas, and Nancy Walker, is broad to be sure; but her vocal and emotional range (and nuance) surpasses that.  One leaves knowing more about the perfomers she honors, and wanting to know even more about them.  And about her.

Lisa Viggiano both charmed and thrilled her audience with her tribute to Jane Olivor at the Laurie Beechman Theater. The multi award winning singer honored Olivor in the best way possible, with new and original arrangements based on, but not identical to, her idol’s songs. Musical Director, Yasushiko Fukuoka made magic with the Olivor songbook. Of particular note were renditions of “Some Enchanted Evening,” “Brooklyn Roads/I’m Always Chasing Rainbows,” and a stunning “French Waltz.” another thriller was “The Hardest Part of Love” sung eloquently by Viggiano. Returning to the stage for the first time, after the pandemic, one looks forward to more evenings with Lisa Viggiano at the helm. ... See MoreSee Less
