Soho Playhouse’s Huron Club
Thursday Night Comedy Series 8:30PM

After a successful launch, The Soho Playhouse continues it’s Thursday night comedy event with up-and coming and established stand-ups taking the stage, booked by producer Alex Simmons. The Thursday night hour and a half shows are moving to 8:30PM and feature comics from Comedy Central, Netflix, network and cable television and comedy festivals worldwide. Featured acts will also include cabaret and musical comedy performers.

“For decades Off-Broadway is where New Yokers have been going for intensely empathetic and experimental theater experiences,” says Britt Lafield, Managing Director of the Playhouse. “The Soho Playhouse epitomizes the ‘downtown theater’ experience in NYC. In that same unpredictable and bohemian tradition we’re proud to present a high quality comedy show for patrons of Soho Playhouse and the city’s comedy audiences.”

Alex brings his experience from off-broadway, comedy clubs and piano bars to bear for this comedy showcase. His endearing appearance on The Late Show with David Letterman at 7 years old kicked off his never ending pursuit of punchlines. Alex has been booking comedy in NYC since 2015 and comedy productions of his design have received notice by The New York Times, Now This News, Nightlife Exchange and Broadway World.

By 1963 the space began as South Village Theater under leadership of esteemed playwright Edward Albee. It was in this space the works of Sam Shephard, Leroi Jones and Lanford Wilson were first mounted. Soho Playhouse has demonstrated a fierce commitment to generating new works since taking the space in 1994.

The Huron Club was the original name given 15 Vandam Street in the late 18th century. The club was a popular meeting house and nightclub which found itself frequently patronized by ranking Democratic Party figures. By the turn of the century it became the seat of power for Tammany Hall, the driving political machine of the Democratic party’s political power in NYC and the state at large.

Doors open at 7:30 PM, $15 cover with a 1 beverage minimum. Reservations are strongly encouraged and can be made online at or by calling 212-691-1555.
