In her New York Cabaret Debut, Singer and storyteller Joanne Halev presents herintoxicating musical cabaret show “Like a Perfumed Woman” on the Birdland Theatre stage, July 2 at 7:00 p.m.
Blending stories of scent memory and the mysterious and passionate world of fragrance creation with songs of Porter, Loesser, Bacharach, Bucchino, Mercer, McBroom and more, Ms. Halev takes the audience on a journey from Mumbai to Madagascar, Sao Paulo to Singapore, Bangkok to Brooklyn.

Joanne Halev was a co-founder of NYU’s Creative Arts Team, the professional educational theatre company that still performs throughout New York City. During her corporate career in publishing at magazines like The New Yorker and W, she booked cabaret and theatre stars Andrea Marcovicci, Audra McDonald, Liliane Montevecchi and others at The Algonquin Oak Room and other major venues. Mentors include Lina Koutrakos, Sally Mayes, Andrea Marcovicci, K.T. Sullivan, Carol Hall, Ann Hampton Callaway, Liz Callaway and Beckie Menzie. She has appeared in group shows and open mics at the Metropolitan Room, Don’t Tell Mama, Davenport’s, and the Duplex. Professionally, Ms. Halevcontinues to play a role in the rarified world of global fragrance creation, home to her third career.
