DC Cabaret is kicking off a group to discuss the recently published “So You Want to Sing Cabaret” by David Sabella and Sue Matsuki. It is a comprehensive look at cabaret’s history, artistic and production challenges, and the state of the art form. DCCN is planning a four week discussion group, to be conducted via Zoom.

If you do not have the book, you may obtain a copy at Amazon or Cabaret University, where David Sabella will sign your copy.

Topics will include:

  1. The Art of Cabaret (Chapters 1-3, 4-6 are optional)
  2. The Practice of Cabaret (Chapters 9-13, 8 is optional)
  3. Building a Cabaret Show (Chapters 14-18)
  4. State of the Cabaret Art (Chapters 19-25)

The discussion will be free-ranging, so even if you didn’t get through a section or chapter – the conversation will still be accessible and informative. Also, the discussions will each stand alone, so you can attend as many or as few sessions as you choose.

Participants will be emailed the Zoom link through Eventbrite.

We would love to include cabaret performers from across the country – please feel free to refer interested individuals, regardless of their geographical location!
