March 1, 2020.  New York City.  Tim Connell brings ‘home’ to NYC It’s the Irish in Me! after playing the show in Glenside, PA (Dino’s Backstage) north of Philadelphia and CVRep in Palm Springs.  Other cabaret pieces that have enjoyed a run here in the city are Livin’ and Lovin’ Life (The Triad), Here’s the Thing (Don’t Tell Mama), There’s This Thing (The Laurie Beechman Theatre) and most recently Shades of Romance (The Triad).

It’s the Irish in Me! is conceived in collaboration with Musical Director James Followell and Director Steven Petrillo.  Connell celebrates his Irish heritage through a bit of song, story and Irish wit.  With his Ancestry DNA results giving him a 95% rating of Irish decent.  Connell rounds it up to 100% and takes the audience on a musical storytelling trip to Ireland.  While through the lens of being Irish, Connell invites the audience to appreciate one’s own heritage in the process.  Along with James Followell at the piano, joining them both onstage with be violinist Pat Mangan as well to add that classic fiddle sound that is uniquely Irish.

Tim Connell’s career as a performer spans 40 years.  It includes musicals, plays, cabarets and small screen (TV).  He is an accomplished triple threat performer.  The resume includes, most recent The Village (NBC); Broadway (Nick & Nora); Off and Off-Off Broadway (Naked Boys Singing, NY Fringe Festival ’04, 47th Street Theatre); National and International tours (Spamalot, West Side Story) and a variety of Regional Theatres across the country.   He also holds a MA in Applied Theatre.  Expanding his artistic skill set, he is currently on faculty at Alvin Ailey, teaching the fundamentals of performance through the lens of Musical Theatre.

What’s been said:

From the Cabaret Piece, “Here’s the Thing” (Oct 2015)

“Tim Connell is a real charmer who tells (and sings) the story of his life as it was and is in a welcoming, honest and heartwarming manner.” – Myra Chanin, Theater Pizzazz

All The Things You Are – Music of Jerome Kern @ Carnegie Hall (May 2019)

“New to me, Tim Connell sings one of the most convincing, tender renditions of ‘Just the Way You Look Tonight’ he submits the kind of finely gauged, musically pearly sensibility that would make any woman’s knees buckle.” – Alix Cohen, Woman Around Town

Thanks for The Memory: Celebrating 30 Years of Cabaret Conventions (Oct 20219)

“Making his Convention debut, Tim Connell offers a finely gauged “I Am What I Am” (Jerry Herman) with each verse incrementally building – no histrionics. The interpretation is more personal than its usual anthemic treatment. Vulnerability is affecting.” – Alix Cohen, Woman Around Town
