The 5th Annual Harvard-Yale Cantata
Thursday, September 12, at 9:30
The fifth annual Harvard-Yale Cantata is coming! Don’t miss it! The first four were so much fun. Yale is 4-0 in the series, but last year’s contest was another squeaker, as most have been. Team Harvard, led this year by captain Jennie Litt and music director Liz Kantor, does not take well to losing and promises to put up a very strong team this year.
Their songwriters will include: Bonnie Raitt (“Nick of Time”), Leonard Bernstein (Broadway’s West Side Story, Candide, and Wonderful Town), and Pete Seeger (“Where Have All the Flowers Gone” and “Waist Deep in the Big Muddy”).
Performers for Harvard will include: Debbie Deane, Matt Corriel, Jennifer Lauren Brown, Laura Sky Herman, Arianna Paz, Caro Ribeiro, John Forster, Matt Walker, and Jacob Rienstra.
The returning Yale Team captain Victoria Ordin will counter with songs by: Maury Yeston (Broadway’s Nine, Grand Hotel, and Titanic), Cole Porter (Broadway’s Kiss Me, Kate and Anything Goes), and Jonathan Coulton (Broadway’s SpongeBob Squarepants and “Code Monkey”) among others.
Yale performers will include: Marya Grandy, Megan Loughran, and Janet Noh. Additional performers will be announced as the date approaches. The Yale music director will be Andrew Gerle.
Former SNL star Rachel Dratch is returning as a judge, along with songwriter Marcy Heisler and a third judge to be named soon. Rachel was a judge in the very first Cantata in 2015.
You don’t need to have a connection to these schools in order to enjoy the amazing amount of talent that will be on stage. We expect a sellout, so get your tickets now.
