The Gnome Haus is pleased to announce the world premiere of The Wrong People Travel, a Queer Cabaret written & performed by Josh Carr and Scottie Roche.

After being struck by an NYPD vehicle in 2010, Carr found himself trapped in a Brooklyn hospital, unable to walk and desperate to travel the world. After reconnecting with Roche, his ex-lover, the two began to reconcile their complicated relationship while planning a cruise around the world.

Directed by Topher Cusumano with musical direction by Karl Saint Lucy The Wrong People Travel explores mobility, non-monogamy, and queer love in an evening of comedic storytelling and musical theater standards from legends like Cole Porter, Stephen Sondheim, Ed Kleban, and more.

When asked what inspired Carr to create this piece, he said, “Like many queer folks my ex is my best friend. It’s a unique dynamic that I hadn’t seen portrayed on stage. I wanted to share this hilarious and occasionally infuriating relationship through my love of musical theatre.”
