Renee Katz@ The Beach Cafe Saturday, June 22nd @ 9:30 pm
Over many years, soprano Renee Katz has earned acclaim on the Manhattan cabaret circuit; and now the former MAC Award and BroadwayWorld nominee is proud to make her debut at The Beach Café on Saturday night, June 22, 2019 at 9:30, with dinner seating at 8:00. After taking some time off from the cabaret community, Renee returned in the summer of 2017 with her award-nominated show, Never Been Gone, which also followed her book of poetry and CD by the same name. In the couple of years since, she has performed two other solo shows entitled Winter Awakenings that featured Maury Yeston’s song cycle, December Songs and, Renee Katz: Only from the Heart can you Touch the Sky; as well as being honored by singing in the 2018 New York Cabaret Convention, the Mabel Mercer Foundation tribute to Jerome Kern at Carnegie Hall and celebrated by Bobbie Horowitz in It’s Just A Number. The Beach Café’s show is created for her birthday celebration. Under the direction of Musical Director John M. Cook and Director Peter Schlosser, How Can I Keep From Singing is a beautiful mix of songs with gorgeous arrangements and emphasizes joy, hope, determination, and above all…love.
“Renee Katz, in her illustrious soprano, amplified the hope and longing as the song progressed. She brought Jerry Herman’s message to vivid life.” Todd Sussman, Cabaret Scenes
“An extremely focused rendition of Skylark took on new meaning bringing a warmth and tenderness only to be equaled by the sad, yet stunning reality of Meadowlark.
